Urban Exploring – Urbex
Despite its small size, Luxembourg offers a range of urbex opportunities. The country’s rich industrial past can be seen in its abandoned steelworks and defunct mining facilities. At the same time, numerous forgotten châteaux tell tales of a grand past. The harmony between the natural beauty of the country and these silent architectural testimonies creates a unique atmosphere for urban exploration.
Hotel Le Belvédère is located on top of “Le Hérou”, a rock wall in a meander of the Ourthe. The history of the hotel, in the northeast of the province of Luxembourg, is vague.
Although the restaurant itself has little to offer, the ascent of the heavily decayed tower was a bit exciting. But I survived!
Château Arabia is a beautiful abandoned castle in Luxembourg. The castle was formerly built by a wealthy lord, who had 13 children with two different women. The man died very young at the age of 60. After his death, the castle was sold to a wealthy Arab sheik who used it as a vacation residence.
During our holiday in Luxembourg we drove past this decayed farm, located on the edge of a small village. As it looked uninhabited and easy access was visible, we stopped for a closer inspection.
