Mono Orphanage, a.k.a. Crying Baby Hospital, is an abandoned orphanage at the Italian-Swiss border. Until the 1970s, nuns prayed, lived and taught to the orphans here. The children mainly came here to cure tuberculosis.
Despite the fact that it has not been inhabited for almost 50 years, there is still little destruction and graffiti. This spot had been quite popular mainly because of the huge rooms filled with rows of beds. Sadly by the time we got there the beds had been taken apart and stacked in a room awaiting removal and the building appeared to have been cleaned out a bit. Maybe this might suggest someone has bought the building and intends to renovate the place.
